Course Overview

Chlorine is one of the most widely used yet hazardous chemicals in industrial and water treatment operations — a toxic gas that can cause severe respiratory harm within seconds of exposure, and whose handling demands strict procedural discipline at every stage from storage to transfer. In water treatment, petrochemical, and industrial facilities across the Middle East, where chlorine is routinely stored and handled under high ambient temperatures, the ability to manage chlorine safely is a critical operational and life-safety requirement.


This training course is designed to build practical competency in safe chlorine handling for personnel involved in chlorine storage, transfer, and emergency response. The course is aligned with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119: Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals and relevant chemical storage guidance under NFPA 855: Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage Systems principles applied to hazardous material storage, which establish the framework for hazardous chemical handling and emergency preparedness. Participants will learn to identify chlorine hazards, apply safe handling and storage procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and respond correctly to leaks and exposure incidents.
