Course Overview
Industrial facilities combine flammable materials, energized equipment, and continuous process activity — a combination that makes basic fire safety awareness essential for every employee, not just designated fire wardens or emergency responders. In manufacturing, warehousing, and process facilities across the Middle East, where fire risk is a constant background factor of daily operations, ensuring every worker understands prevention, response, and evacuation fundamentals is a critical baseline safety requirement.
This training course is designed to build foundational fire safety awareness for employees working in industrial environments. The course is aligned with NFPA 101: Life Safety Code and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157: Portable Fire Extinguishers, which establish the framework for life safety and basic fire protection equipment use. Participants will learn to recognize common industrial fire hazards, apply basic fire prevention practices, use portable fire extinguishers correctly, and follow evacuation procedures during a fire emergency.

1. Introduction to Industrial Fire Safety
Defining the fire triangle including (heat, fuel, and oxygen)
Applicable standards and regulatory requirements including (NFPA 101 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157)
Overview of common industrial fire hazards including (flammable liquids, combustible dust, and electrical sources)
Overview of industrial fire incidents and their primary causes including (hot work, equipment failure, and poor housekeeping)
2. Fire Prevention in Industrial Environments
Safe storage and handling of flammable and combustible materials
Housekeeping practices to reduce fire load including (waste removal and clear walkways)
Electrical safety basics including (avoiding overloaded circuits and damaged cords)
Hot work awareness including (permit requirements and fire watch basics)
3. Fire Classifications and Extinguisher Types
Understanding fire classes including (Class A, B, C, D, and K)
Matching extinguisher types to fire class including (water, foam, CO2, and dry chemical)
Reading extinguisher labels and rating information
Recognizing situations where extinguishers should not be used
4. Portable Fire Extinguisher Use
Pre-use inspection basics including (pressure gauge and pin condition)
