In fabrication, marine, and industrial maintenance operations across the Middle East, where structural steel, pipelines, and tanks routinely require abrasive blasting before protective coating, safe and technically competent blasting operation is essential to both worker protection and asset longevity.
This training course is designed to build comprehensive competency in sandblasting operations for personnel responsible for surface preparation work across varied industrial applications. The course is aligned with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.94: Ventilation and SSPC-SP: Surface Preparation Standards, which establish the framework for abrasive blasting exposure control and surface preparation quality verification. Participants will progress from equipment and media fundamentals through hazard control, safe operating technique, quality verification, and waste management — building the depth of competency required to perform sandblasting operations safely and to specification.

Applicable international standards and regulatory requirements including (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.94, SSPC-SP standards, and local environmental regulations)
Roles and responsibilities including (blaster, pot operator, and supervisor duties)
Overview of sandblasting incidents and their primary causes including (uncontrolled dust exposure, hose failure, and equipment misuse)
Distinguishing sandblasting from other abrasive surface preparation methods
2. Abrasive Media Selection and Properties
2.1 Media Types and Characteristics
Common abrasive media types including (silica sand, steel grit, garnet, and aluminum oxide)
Media hardness, shape, and size characteristics affecting surface profile
Selecting media based on substrate material and coating specification
Environmental and health considerations affecting media selection
