Course Overview
A scaffold is only as safe as the judgment of the person supervising its erection — the foreman or leadman is the point of accountability for structural integrity, crew competency, and go/no-go decisions that other trades and inspectors rely on. On construction and industrial sites across the Middle East, where scaffolding supports high-tempo, multi-trade work at height under demanding climate conditions, a scaffolding foreman must combine technical erection knowledge with the authority and judgment to enforce safe practice under pressure.
This training course is designed to build advanced, supervisory-level competency in scaffold erection oversight, inspection, and crew leadership for personnel responsible for directing scaffolding activities on site. The course is aligned with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L: Scaffolds and ANSI/ASSE A10.8: Safety Requirements for Scaffolding, which establish the framework for scaffold design, erection, and competent/qualified person responsibilities. Overview of scaffold-related incidents linked to supervisory failures including (inadequate inspection, unauthorized alterations, and crew miscommunication)
2. Scaffold Systems and Structural Fundamentals
2.1 Scaffold Types and ComponentsCommon scaffold system types including (tube-and-clamp, frame, and system scaffolds)
Key structural components including (standards, ledgers, transoms, and bracing)
2.2 Loading and Structural RequirementsLoad classifications and rated capacity including (light, medium, and heavy duty)
