Course Overview
A tower crane's safety record depends heavily on the judgment of the person supervising its operation — the supervisor is accountable for verifying rigging plans, coordinating ground and hoist personnel, and making the go/no-go decisions that protect everyone working beneath the load. On high-rise construction and infrastructure projects across the Middle East, where tower cranes operate continuously across long shifts, congested sites, and demanding climate conditions, a competent tower crane supervisor is essential to preventing dropped loads, structural failures, and collisions with other site equipment.
This training course is designed to build practical supervisory competency in tower crane operations for personnel responsible for overseeing lift planning, crew coordination, and site safety. The course is aligned with OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1400: Cranes and Derricks in Construction and ASME B30.3: Tower Cranes, which establish the framework for crane operation standards and supervisory responsibility. Participants will learn to verify lift plans, coordinate signal persons and riggers, oversee pre-use inspections, and manage emergency response during tower crane operations.

Roles and responsibilities including (supervisor, qualified rigger, and signal person duties)
Overview of tower crane incidents linked to supervisory failures including (inadequate lift planning and miscommunication with ground crew)
2. Lift Planning and Load Chart Verification
Reviewing lift plans including (load weight, radius, and boom configuration)
Verifying load chart interpretation and capacity limits
Assessing ground conditions and outrigger/base support requirements
Identifying critical lifts requiring additional planning and approval
3. Rigging and Signal Person Coordination
