Course Overview
Truck and tractor failures rarely occur without warning — worn brakes, damaged hitches, and deteriorating tires often show detectable signs long before they cause a roadside breakdown or a serious incident. In construction, logistics, and industrial operations across the Middle East, where trucks and tractors are used continuously across long shifts and demanding terrain, the ability to correctly inspect and verify vehicle condition before use is a critical control against mechanical failure and preventable incidents.
This training course is designed to build practical competency in the inspection of trucks and tractors for personnel responsible for verifying vehicle condition before use. The course is aligned with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178: Powered Industrial Trucks and ANSI/ASSE Z245: Safety Requirements for Refuse Collection, Processing, and Disposal, which establish the framework for vehicle inspection criteria and safe operational standards. Participants will learn to conduct structured pre-use inspections, identify mechanical and structural defects, verify safety systems, and correctly document and report vehicle condition in compliance with applicable standards.

Course Outline
1. Introduction to Truck and Tractor Inspection
Overview of truck and tractor types and applications including (flatbed trucks, tractor units, and site tractors)
Applicable international standards and regulatory requirements including (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178, ANSI/ASSE Z245, and local vehicle safety regulations)
Roles and responsibilities including (driver, competent inspector, and fleet supervisor duties)
Overview of vehicle-related incidents and their primary causes including (brake failure, tire blowouts, and hitch disengagement)
2. Vehicle Components and Systems
Key structural components including (chassis, cab, coupling systems, and load-bearing structures)
Braking systems including (service brakes, parking brakes, and air/hydraulic brake components)
Steering and suspension systems including (steering linkage, tie rods, and suspension mounts)
Electrical and lighting systems including (headlights, indicators, and warning devices)
3. Pre-Use Inspection Procedures
Conducting a structured walkaround inspection including (systematic checkpoint sequencing)
