Course Overview
Tugger vehicles move heavy, often multi-cart loads through busy warehouse and production floors — a task that looks routine until a poorly secured load shifts, a blind corner is misjudged, or a pedestrian steps into a towing path without warning. In manufacturing, logistics, and industrial facilities across the Middle East, where tuggers are used continuously to move materials between production and storage areas, safe and disciplined tugger operation is essential to preventing collisions, load-related injuries, and equipment damage.
This training course is designed to build practical competency in tugger operation for personnel responsible for towing carts and trailers using tugger vehicles. The course is aligned with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178: Powered Industrial Trucks and ANSI/ITSDF B56.9: Safety Standard for Operator-Controlled Industrial Tow Tractors, which establish the framework for safe tow tractor operation and pedestrian protection. Participants will learn to conduct pre-use inspections, apply load coupling and towing principles, operate tuggers safely around pedestrians and mixed traffic, and respond correctly to load and equipment-related hazards.

Applicable international standards and regulatory requirements including (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178, ANSI/ITSDF B56.9, and local site traffic regulations)
Operator roles, responsibilities, and duty of care including (pre-use obligations and authorization requirements)
Overview of tugger-related incidents and their primary causes including (pedestrian collisions, load train jackknifing, and excessive speed)
2. Tugger Components and Controls
Key structural and mechanical components including (chassis, coupling mechanism, and braking system)
Control functions including (accelerator, brake, horn, and warning lights)
Coupling and hitch types including (pin, hook, and automatic coupling systems)
Power systems and battery/fuel awareness for electric and combustion tuggers
